SPRING 2008 PROJECT
The Passion
The second part of this project is a call to action. We do not want you to just sit back and read about a problem or watch about it on TV or online. You are required to take some kind of action, whatever you feel comfortable doing and feel would be relevant. This action could include (but not limited to) writing letters to the media and encouraging others to do the same; writing letters to state or national representatives, and encouraging others to do the same; founding an organization dealing with the issue; organizing demonstrations/public events to raise awareness of the issue; or whatever other sorts of actions you can devise. Your efforts in this regard (as well as a summary of your joint report) should be presented to the combined class in the scheduled slots towards the end of the semester. Be creative to ensure the visibility of your project!
Each group must also generate a summary report of your activity. Your report should include the following:
1. a brief summary of your topic and semester 1 activities
2. identification of a specific action/objective(s) in relation to your topic
3.
a comparison of your action to other events and organizations that have addressed the same issue
4. successes and/or failures of your actions
5. unintended consequences/surprises
6. a detailed summary of the contributions of individual members of your group
7. a summary and analysis of what you learned while undertaking this project
8. reflection on how this experience will influence your future
