YOU FAIL!
Fascinating. I would love to see more.
Breath taking. Keep it up.
Although this is how most active duty and veterans of this nation feel they are treated. We would never do it lying down. Please show some respect for our nation and its active duty troops and veterans of multiple wars like myself. “Ours is not to question why ours is but to do or die”
Guerra de la Paz's Man Down at A&V 2008
The fact that there is a barrier around this art is opposing it’s very meaning.
^We unfortunately had to, as the work was being damaged.
That one BAMF
This is a very telling statement in that it seems to reflect more and more the sentiments of our own involvement in this senseless war. Great job!
I wonder if the artist has ever been to Iraq? Afghanistan? Are you a soldier? Have you interviewed multiple veterans? Are you related to someone in the army? I’m just wondering…your “art” is not moving. It’s just sad. It’s not going to help the war. So why did you create it?
I love the self importance declared by the artist to defend men and women who daily hump a hundred pounds of gear and cover each other backs with machine guns. He completely fails to understand the commitment and sense of duty soldiers feel to each other and their mission. He hijacks and warps a symbol to endorse his own politics. The piece provokes not because of its intended message, but because it climbs new heights of triteness and leftist cliché.
I am a former Iraqi war veteran. I actually in the intelligence portion of the marine corps during the Fallajah invasions. I have lost many of my close friends and brother in the war in Iraq. Lookin at your art makes me feel sad. It disturbs me but intrigues me. I hate the war and I too have expressed the same emotion that your art does, but due to my commitment to honor those that have passed, I cannot nor will I express myself as such. I’d appreciate your opinion through artistic expression.
I believe that this art piece depicts how the country feels about the war. It is a sad situation. We have lost so many soldiers. When is it the night time to come home? How’d we lose the lines of these soldiers in vain? It is a no win situation.
I like the work of art. Kudos!
I loved this exhibit. It’s shocking and thought provoking. Thank you!
Excellent display of art. Congratulations: inspiring and heart touching.
Words to your moms!
I like the work of art, too!

Make art not war! <3 =]
So fresh and so clean.
Best class ever =]
Enjoyed the diversity of Art displayed, although I don’t like or support the inspiration behind the art. What a great country where all can express themselves without fear of persecution or death. God has really Blessed us. Good work!
I like the nude artowkr.
Good work done.
All I have to say is Wow! Great job guys!

Tragic/empowering/humbling
Pretty cool. That’s how many people feel about that stupid war. Great job!
Amazing work of art (soldier).
Last supper – How can you mock Jesus when he came to save the world, it seems that people forgot the value of Jesus’ death was and at the end you mock is the one we all need.
As one who’s artistically inclined, I profoundly admire the thought provoking and provactive nature/attribute to the artworks displayed especially the soldiers. This is the most sanitized, remote and abstract war ever fought and peoples attention needs to be drawn constantly to the fact that this ations is at war. With only absent 1% of the US population directly affected by the rest of us, live our lives without really appreciating the magnitute and gravity of this war. Millions of innocent Iraqis have been killed and displaced and maimed. I’ll love to see same artwork that draw much deserved attention to this human traedoy!!!
You are going to hell!
^More fun than heaven!
Soldier what I understodd is the soldier is raising his middle finger because he is going to be finish not because he is against the war.
No you’re not…well put!
Like your art, it’s cool =]

The prominent role given to the art depicting a human female as a mule betrays the true nature of this exhibition. What is implied by this piece? That the men in our society make their way on the backs of battered, under appreciated women? Such a sentiment is patently absurd. Additionally, the anti-war presentations are typically subversive. I wonder if the Honors College would dedicate its resources to exposing the real atrocities that occur in third-world countries around the glove. No doubt, it takes less courage to simply throw stones from the safe haven of auniversity. My suggestions is that next years exhibit should simply consist of a poster with the caption, “ America is an evil and sexist country.” It would convey the same message while using only a fraction of the resources. The savings in time and money can be used to provide students with a real education, which may supplement the leftists tripe that characterizes much of the discourse in contemporary universities.
^I think the previous commenter is a feminist 80% f what is written has nothing to do with the art work or subject. You wrote your comment in the wrong comment book. I think the piece successfully expresses a message.
If you think I’m a feminist after reading that, then your reading comp skills are extremely deficient.
Nice!
I fucking love it!
I <3 it too.
I fucking love this comment!
Good work

If art was that easy I would have been an art major a long time ago!
^Very rude!!! =[
I fail to see what’s so daring, controversial or avant-garde about this work, which does nothing more than uncritically parrot the left wing agitprop propounded by the overwhelming majority of FIU professors. The lack of nuance in the messages this art is attempting to get across says a lot for the level of critical thinking inculcated at the university. The fruits, indeed, of the absence of a roust liberal studies curriculum..
I was especially amused at the Toy-soldier Last supper print. The accompanying description illustrates the artists egotistical sense of the self worth more than it does illuminate his art. Contrary to his shameless self-plug, , there is no “heap of controversial discourse” ignited by this infantile display, especially not from the church. If Mr. de a paz wants to be truly daring, let’s see him caricature Islam and the Prophest Muhammad. I for one am glad that artists such as de la paz can get away with Christian-bashing because the pope does not issue fatwahs, and Billy Graham does not fly airplanes into buildings, but it would be nice once in a while for these artists to express gratitude for the protected freedoms they enjoy in Christian America rather than pat their own backs for doing what entails no real danger or sacrifice.

FIU –
I have served 4-years in the active duty Marine Corps. If The artist should thank the troops for defending his right to “bash the troops”. The artist needs to get into a fire fight to really see how it is like. I doubt the artist will last 5 seconds in Iraq or Afghanistan.
- F
Ps. Anyone who wants to bash our troops can call me. I’ll bash back. Anyplace anytime.
How do you construe a work like this as “bashing the troops”? If anything it is bashing the administration that puts the marines, into the fire fights! Why do people assume that every anti war statement is inherently anti troops? I respect deepy the sacrifices you make on behalf of this country freeling admit that I probably couldn’t do the same and am ashamed that you should be asked to make such sacrifices for such stupid, meaningless conflict, into which we were drawn with lies. No if ands or buts there were no wmds, Hussein does not equal Al Quida you know the stor. I’m sorry and I respect you, but I do not think your comment has any bearing on this work. -Alex
His wang is small!
Thank you. We need more people like this.
I admire very much such creative works art. I found Carol Prusa’s intricate designs very attractive and interesting. I can also relate to the anger felt towards the Iraq War in “Guerra de la Paz.” I hope that many people respond to this message in the form of votes against the war. I don’t agree that women are always the tools of men. In fact, more than ever, women are holding powerful positions. However, it is true that we are sometimes try to conform to images portrayed by the media f what we should act like and how we should dress. –Amna
^I agree. Also it is the mindset of the super feminist women that keeps them oppressed. They need to open their eyes and realize that women are not as oppressed as the artist is trying to portray. Not even close (get over yourself)
